The Department of Curriculum and Instruction coordinates numerous district-wide events that enhance the instructional program. For detailed information on any of these activities contact the Curriculum Coordinator responsible for the respective program.
District Art Show
Each year since 1986, the Berea City School District proudly presents “Art Through The Ages”, the district art show. This weeklong exhibit, which opens with an evening reception at the Fawick Art Gallery at Baldwin-Wallace College, enables visitors to experience the growth and development of the students in grades K-12 through their artwork. Approximately, one hundred and fifty pieces of student art are featured each year.
Planetarium Program
The district’s planetarium is located at Midpark High School. As part of the elementary and middle school earth and space science curriculum all students are exposed to the night sky through numerous field trip activities at the planetarium. At the high school level, the planetarium is an essential part of the Astronomy program. Midpark teacher Len Muni serves as the district’s planetarium director.
Camp Mi-Bro-Be
A weeklong outdoor education program offered to all sixth graders. Each "team" of sixth grade students get the opportunity to camp in the beautiful woods of Camp Whitewood. The teachers accompany the students and join with high school student cabin counselors and the camp directors to provide a meaningful and memorable learning and team building experience. Graduating seniors consistently rate sixth grade camp as one of their school career highlights.
District Sponsored Elementary Field Trips
The school district sponsors elementary grade level field trips that support the curriculum that is taught at each grade level. These are field trip experiences that each of our students have the opportunity in which to participate. These field trips are in addition to the planetarium program that is described above. -
