  • re This holiday season, give a gift that spreads more than holiday cheer with a blood donation through the American Red Cross. Each time you give blood, your donation can help save three lives. Imagine if those three people help to save three lives, and then those people help save three more lives, and so on, and so on. Together, we can help spread hope this holiday season by giving something that doesn’t cost a thing, but can offer so much more.

Holiday activities, inclement weather and seasonal illnesses, like the flu often result in fewer blood donations during the winter months.  Patients don’t get a holiday from needing blood.  The need is constant.  Red blood cells have a shelf life of 42 days and must be continually resupplied for patients in need.  Eligible blood donors can discover the true meaning of giving this holiday season by giving the gift of life.

Join us in helping save lives by scheduling an appointment to donate at:

Big Creek Elementary School’s Pint-Size Hero Blood Drive

    Gymnasium

    7247 Big Creek Parkway

    Middleburg Heights, OH 44130

    Tuesday, December 02, 2014

    3:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Students who recruit a presenting donor to their blood drive will receive a fun appreciation gift.

To schedule an appointment go to www.redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code: 44130 or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

Berea P.E.A.K. is a parent support group for parents of children in the special education programs of the Berea City School District.  Our next meeting is on October 20, 2014 from 6:30 until 8:00 in the Grindstone Elementary Library.  The speaker is Rachel McDonnell, Berea City Schools’ Parent Mentor.  Come to hear what Rachel’s role is with the district and also how she is available to help you with your child’s education.  At our November 17 meeting, Janeen Leon from MetroHealth will be speaking about how diet impacts kids’ behavior, health, and wellness.  Please RSVP to BereaPEAK@yahoo.com or follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/groups/bereapeak for more details.  Childcare is available.

District Announcements

  • Superintendent's Message 11/5/14:
As I’m sure you are aware, the district was unsuccessful yesterday in passing the 3.9 mill Operating Levy.  I want you to know, the Board of Education will spend time over the next few months reflecting on this most recent campaign.  We will review our district financial situation, along with district needs, and begin to develop a strategy to move forward.
That being said, I want to personally thank all of our staff, parents and community members for all of their time and dedication over the past several months supporting the levy campaign.  I am sincerely grateful for each of you, and want to thank you for what you do every day for the students of the Berea City School District.
