What is the Fountas and Pinnell Guided Reading System?

The Rigby Reads program that we use with our Language Arts Curriculum is based on the Fountas and Pinnell Guided Reading System. Texts of books are classified by using the letters of the alphabet. The content, theme, vocabulary, sentence complexity, genre and format are just a few of the elements in a book that are assessed to determine the guided reading level.
