Securly Web Filter and Parent Portal
The District uses Securly to filter student devices.
The District also uses the Securly Parent Portal , a web filtering tool that offers parental controls and reports on district-issued Chromebooks. The Securly Parent Portal allows parents and guardians to view online activity outside of the classroom, including sites browsed, social media use, and search activity. Parents can also set controls for use outside school hours.
We encourage parents and guardians to download the Securly Home app, which is included with the District’s Securly partnership. The app helps safeguard your child’s online activity when devices come home. Please view the instructional video below for more information.
Securly sends parents weekly email reports. These reports allow parents and guardians to create an account, access their child’s online activity history, and establish parental controls. The frequency of email reports may vary, since reports are based on use outside of classroom time. You may unsubscribe from Securly emails at any time.

About Securly system alerts
Berea City Schools uses a tool called Securly that helps identify potential signs of self-harm or cyberbullying on student devices. This software can alert us to some concerning activity, but it has limitations and it is not perfect at detecting or preventing issues.
Berea City Schools does not monitor Securly alerts in real time. Parents and guardians have the option to review their child’s alerts outside of school hours.
Securly is designed as an aid, not a guarantee. It may not catch everything. We encourage parents and guardians to report any concerns about their child’s internet use or possible policy violations directly to the school.
While we use tools that are intended to support student safety, Berea City Schools cannot provide a warranty or guarantee regarding the performance of this software. The District is not responsible for potential issues that may arise from using or not using Securly, including inaccurate alerts or missed concerns.
