Bus Expectations & Student Behavior

Safety is paramount in all aspects of student transportation. The Berea City School District is committed to providing a safe, orderly, and respectful environment on every school bus.

All students are expected to follow established bus conduct rules and safety procedures in accordance with Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) 3301-83-08, which outlines standards for pupil behavior, safety, and transportation operations.

Students are required to:

  • Follow all directions given by the bus driver or transportation staff
  • Remain seated while the bus is in motion
  • Keep hands, feet, and personal belongings to themselves
  • Use appropriate and respectful language
  • Refrain from any behavior that could distract the driver or endanger others

To support positive behavior expectations, the District utilizes a PBIS Bus Matrix that reinforces three core expectations:

  • Be Safe
  • Be Responsible
  • Be Respectful

These expectations are taught, reinforced, and consistently applied across all bus routes to promote a positive and safe transportation environment.

Failure to follow bus expectations may result in disciplinary action to ensure the safety of all students and staff.

Any concerns or disciplinary issues will be addressed collaboratively by the Transportation Supervisor and Building Administration in accordance with district policies and OAC guidelines.
