The Berea City School District has once again been recognized by The NAMM Foundation as one of the Best Communities for Music Education, marking the 26th consecutive year the district has received this national distinction.

The award recognizes school districts across the country that demonstrate a strong commitment to providing students with access to high-quality music education. From elementary through high school, Berea City Schools continues to prioritize opportunities for students to learn, perform, and grow through music.

Music education in Berea is woven into the student experience, offering a range of programs that allow students to explore their interests, develop their skills, and build confidence. Whether students are picking up an instrument for the first time or performing at a high level, they are supported by dedicated educators who bring both expertise and passion into their classrooms.

This recognition is based on several factors, including funding, participation, instruction time, facilities, and community support. The continued success of Berea City Schools in earning this designation reflects a shared commitment across the district and community to ensure music remains an important part of a well-rounded education.

“Music plays an important role in helping students develop creativity and collaboration,” said Superintendent Tracy Wheeler. “This recognition is a reflection of the work happening in our classrooms every day and the value our community places on these opportunities for students.”

The district’s music programs are supported not only by educators and students, but also by families and community members who attend performances, support events, and encourage student participation. Their involvement helps sustain a culture where music continues to thrive.

As Berea City School District celebrates this 26-year milestone, the focus remains on continuing to provide meaningful music opportunities for all students.
