    About Us
     The Berea City School District's ExtendED Program is a tuition-based before and after school program. The program is available to students who are enrolled in the Berea City Schools who are kindergarten age through 14 years of age.  The ExtendED Program is available at all the elementary schools as well as at the middle school.  If enrollment doesn't meet the minimum at the middle school, those students will attend the before and after program at Big Creek Elementary.  Transportation will be provided to and from the middle school from Big Creek.
     The staff are dedicated to providing a safe, enjoyable and positive environment for children.  We will attempt to provide as much of a home-away-from-home atmosphere as possible in a school environment.  We will provide services to   children and their families on a nondiscriminatory basis, regardless of race, religion, cultural heritage, political beliefs, disability or marital status.

     We believe it is important to plan enrichment, social and learning activities for children in our care.  Staff members will provide a choice of arts and crafts, physical activity, age-appropriate table games, homework and quiet reading and   other activities that promote children’s personal growth.  Children will usually have the choice of playing with friends or doing something independent of the others as long as the rights of others are not infringed upon.  We encourage   outside play and games whenever possible.

     Implementation of the philosophy can be accomplished only through the efforts of professional, caring staff members who are truly interested in the welfare of children.

     The ExtendED Program is open to children enrolled in the Berea City School District upon payment of an annual registration fee and completion of registration information. Families registering mid-month will be responsible for the  full monthly tuition fee.  No adjustments will be made.
     Enrollment is limited at each site. All placements are on a first-come, first-served basis.  Registration procedures and deadlines must be adhered to in order to provide efficient and fair administration of the program.
     To ensure the safety of the children and the quality of the program, the staff and space available will control enrollment. The maximum number of children in attendance at one time at each program site will not exceed the number   recommended by the Ohio Department of Education.  Sites may reach capacity before any registration deadline date.  A waiting list will be maintained for openings which may occur during summer registration and throughout the school   year.
      A minimum of three days per week is required for staffing purposes; both AM and PM sessions. The ExtendED Program is not a drop-in center. Enrollment must be consistent throughout the year.
      A $25 non-refundable registration fee per family is required before the last day of school. After the last day of school the non-refundable registration fee increases to $35 for one student or $50 per family.
     Admission to the ExtendED Program is complete when all required forms are submitted.  Registration forms are only available via the District website (www.berea.k12.oh.us – Programs – ExtendED).  Tab through the form and complete   all blank spaces.  Handwritten registration forms will not be accepted.  A kiosk is available at the Board of Education to complete registration forms electronically.  Telephone and cell phone numbers must be accurate and   constantly updated for home and work.  In addition, phone numbers are needed for both parents/guardians, and three relatives, neighbors or friends  to be contacted in case of emergency and authorized to pick up child/children. Failure   to complete this request will result in suspension/expulsion from the program without refund of any tuition
     Once a child is enrolled in the ExtendED Program, the parents/guardians are responsible for informing the staff of any special medical, physical or emotional needs and/or custodial arrangements that will assist the staff in the supervision   of the child.
     Parents/guardians must have no outstanding balances from the ExtendED and/or Summer Camp Programs when registering for the next school year. 
    Program Hours/Tuition
    The ExtendED Program is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM – 9:00 AM and 3:45 PM – 6:00 PM at the elementary schools and 6:30 AM – 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM at the middle school.  You may register for either before school or after school or both.  There is a three day per week minimum usage required for staffing purposes for both before and after school.  Such arrangements must be regularly scheduled.  We cannot make provisions for “drop-in care.”

    Our monthly tuition rates are set based on an average of 20 days per month for a full-time, 5 days per week schedule, 16 days per month for a part-time, 4 days per week schedule, 12 days per month for a part-time, 3 days per week schedule – with the months of August/September and May/June being combined into one monthly payment.  Your payments will be the same each month even in December (winter vacation) and March/April (spring vacation) months. 

    Registration fee is $35 per student or $50 per family (2 or more students in the same household).  Tuition is $5.50 per hour.  A sibling discount is available.

    Tuition is to be PRE-PAID monthly.  Payments are due ON or BEFORE the 15th of each month “prior” to the use of child care (i.e. October's tuition will be due September 15th).  Around the first of each month, your invoice will be emailed to you with your monthly tuition.  There will be a link on the email to pay with a credit card (MasterCard, VISA, Discover, AmEx).  A 3% convenience fee will be added to the total.  You can continue to pay with a check (payable to BCSD) and mailed to or dropped off at the Administration Building, c/o ExtendED Program, 390 Fair Street, Berea 44017.  Cash payments are no longer accepted.  Site staff will not accept payments.

    A $10.00 late fee will be assessed to all accounts not paid in full by the last day of the month. Habitual late payment or non-payment may result in termination of services.  A participant dismissed from the program for non-payment will be placed on a wait list and allowed to return to the program only after all account balances and all late fees have been paid in full and if space is available.

    Our program is self-supporting and its operations are not subsidized by the Board of Education.  Therefore, enrollment represents a commitment to the program and to our staff.
