Berea City School District Selects New Superintendent

BEREA, OH (June 7, 2019) — The Berea City School District Board of Education has selected Mrs. Tracy Wheeler as the district’s next superintendent. The Board offered the position to Mrs. Wheeler at a special meeting on June 6. The Board plans to vote to approve Mrs. Wheeler’s contract at its June 10 meeting. Her first contract day will be August 1.

Mrs. Wheeler obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education at The Ohio State University. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Cleveland State University and her Superintendent Licensure from Kent State University. During this time, Mrs. Wheeler began her teaching career at Fairfax County Public Schools (Elementary) in Falls Church Virginia. From there she moved back to Ohio and was hired by Mayfield City Schools as a Middle School ELA/Math Teacher. She then became the Gifted Coordinator/Gifted Intervention Specialist at South Euclid-Lyndhurst City Schools. Currently, Mrs. Wheeler is the Assistant Superintendent at Brunswick City School District, where she also held the positions of Gifted Coordinator, Assistant High School Principal, and High School Principal.

Her leadership approach to fairness, consistency, listening and learning, and building positive relationships will benefit our district and the three cities we serve.
