Ford and MHJH Students Excel at National Geographic Bee

The National Geographic Bee is an annual competition organized by the National Geographic Society, designed to inspire and reward students' curiosity about the world. Students from 10,000 schools across the United States competed in the 2017 National Geographic Bee for a chance to win college scholarships and the glory of being the National Geographic Bee Champion.

Ford Intermediate and Middleburg Heights Junior High participated this year with the support of the Social Studies departments at both schools and Mrs. Jennings. Congratulations to this year’s National Geographic Bee winners: From Ford Intermediate 6th grader, Ethan Wooten and Middleburg Heights Junior High: 7th grader, Ethan Barker. 6th grader, Erin DiFrancesco and 7th grader, Eliza Duke each came in a close second place. Both school winners took a qualifying test and they will find out if they are eligible for the state Bee in the spring.

3/6/17 update: MHJH 7th grader, Ethan Barker qualified for the state level Geographic Bee in Columbus.  He will be competing on March 31st.  Congratulations and good luck, Ethan!
