Berea City School District partners with SaferSchools Ohio to provide families with a free, anonymous reporting resource. The statewide tip line allows students, parents, and community members to alert local law enforcement to potential school safety concerns.
What is SaferSchools Ohio?
SaferSchools Ohio is a multi-agency effort designed to help schools improve student safety. The service allows anonymous reporting of concerns such as school threats, bullying, self-harm, or other safety issues.
When is the tip line available?
The tip line is available 24 hours a day. Calls and texts are accepted by the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Public Safety for participating schools.
Can I remain anonymous?
Yes. Every tip may remain anonymous. Analysts may ask follow-up questions, but you are not required to share your identity unless you choose to.
What happens after a tip is submitted?
Calls and texts to 844-SAFEROH (844-723-3764) are answered by analysts in the Ohio Homeland Security Threat Assessment and Prevention (TAP) Unit. When necessary, information is immediately shared with local school officials and law enforcement so action can be taken.
TAP Unit analysts follow up with schools and law enforcement to ensure incidents are investigated, addressed, and documented.
